From the very outset of creation God’s intent for man was to multiple and be fruitful! Genesis 12 talks about God blessing all people through people.

Matt 28:18-20, Jesus commissions His disciples with authority to go and make disciples of all nations. Acts 1:8 similarly speaks of Power for purpose in all places!

It has been often said that world evangelization is a fantasy if we are not planting churches!

The only way we are going to disciple the nations is to plant New Testament churches in every village of every town of every city of every nation!

What we need to remember is that church planting is not the primary focus!!

The King and His Kingdom are!

When we focus on planting instead of the Kingdom…

-Mans needs become more important than Gods Devine Glory

-Strategy becomes a result of human observation instead of God inspired revelation

-We shift the focus to growing our church rather than advancing His Kingdom

-Ultimately we sell out of Gods original intent for gimmicks and tricks because church planting is the central focus of everything!

I’m convinced that when church planting is centered, at every level, around our King and His Kingdom and therefore is an, not the only, expression through which His Kingdom comes, we will see cities and nations transformed and Jesus exalted above all!

Church planting is Gods strategy but must be done for Him and with Him. Let’s live His dream!!

These are TEAM values we must have and invest in to see church planting thrive…

We love and do LIFE with each other.

Part of being in team while church planting is connecting the different areas of our lives. Partnering should come from sharing our lives at every level. The good, the bad and the ugly! We develop relationship and must invest in keeping those relationships healthy.

1 John 4:11…

“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

Honesty…speak the TRUTH in love.

If we are on this journey together, we have to be honest and sharpen each other. That doesn’t mean we have sharp tongues, but we love and care for one another in such a way that we can be truthful without being offensive. We all have blind spots we cannot see. That’s why they call them blind spots!! Again, our desire is to love each other through to redemption.

Proverbs 27:17

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

We WORK together, each one pulling their perspective weight.

We all have our roles and responsibilities. We cannot sit in judgment over what one person does over another. Our call and gifting are all different but our effort should be equal.

Ephesians 4:16…

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as EACH PART does ITS WORK.”

We PROTECT each other.

The only thing we have in ministry is our reputation. Someone said that it is harder work repairing your reputation than it is maintaining it. We all should care what people think about how we represent our lives, our families but most important our King!

1 Peter 5:5

…clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

We HONOR Him with what we have.

If we have the mindset that what we have is ours, we will never give. If we keep the attitude that what we have has been given to us by our Lord, we will be open handed with the very best we have. This includes money but more importantly and valuable is our time and energy. Let’s keep giving how Jesus gave.

Colossians 3:17…

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Execute…we walk out what we say.

We have to be people of our word! If we say we will do something we must do it, to the best of our ability. If we say we will be somewhere at a specific time, be there earlier than what you said. People don’t care what you know until they know that you care. Our response shows how we care and the value we put on people.

Matt 5:37 – All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Our yes being yes!!!

Church planting is costly at every level: financial, physical, emotional and mental. We have to be willing to pay the price! There is no reward for those who don’t finish. Let me be honest, I want the reward! However, I know what God has asked of me and I have to be willing to pay the price as we all do. Each of us has our own price to pay! I can’t pay yours and you cannot pay mine!

Church planting is not for the weak hearted. It will test every idea we have about the Kingdom, our security in Jesus, who we think we are, our faith and our abilities. As long as we continue to abide in Him and trust Him for all of those things and pay our price, we will see the reward!

Colossians 3:23…

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”
